On Point: Atmosphere - When God Gives You Ugly Tour
By Afolabi
In case you missed it, the record label known as Rhymesayers is putting on a show. Last Wednesday, at the House of Blues in Boston, the 'When God Gives You Ugly Tour' rolled through to drop some knowledge on a very well schooled mass of fans. Bringing with them, Attracted to Gods, the one the only the magnificent Brother Ali, and the prolific yet relentless Atmosphere. If they happen to roll through your town this summer, do yourself a favor and be there. In that light, here's a little set to give you some inspiration, because i can tell you this much, whether it was the air or the music, everyone at that show was definitely lifted into the... On Point: The Hangover
By Afolabi
And now for what could possibly be the next greatest movie of all time. Featuring the awesome and also from Philadelphia, Bradley Cooper; Ed Helms, better known to you as Andy on The Office; Zach Galifianakis who's recent collab with Fiona Apple (Come on and get it) is one of the funniest/actually-musically-good songs i've ever heard; and i guess the baby too. Whoever cast this movie should receive some sort of award for their work. Ok, i'll just stop now. Recovering soon at a theater near you... The Hangover

'Allo 'Allo
By Afolabi
From the mind of the creators of the classic British sitcom "Are you being served?", Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft (Paul Adams later), is a hilariously ridiculous comedy set during WWII France. It reminds me of "It's always sunny...", though it's not really the same at all, and also about 23 years older. Regardless, you should watch it. It's well worth the time. What's that? I think it's a phone... 'Allo 'Allo

Pretty Lights DJ Producer Will Make You Move
By George
If Soundtribe Sector 9 -- aka STS9 -- and Girl Talk had a child,
Pretty Lights would be it. Out from Colorado, this
DJ/Producer is capable of making some seriously dance-able beats
while mixing hypnotic rythms with sound bites from Hip Hip hits and
soul classics creating nothing short of a sonic masterpiece.
If you're like me and can't get enough of Pretty Lights, check out his entire iClips live performance at the Loyal Earth Festival on 4/20/09. Make sure to check out track 12!
Looking to download full Pretty Lights albums? Right on the Pretty Lights Home Page, friend. The fact that his music is free is a great example of how artists should market themeselves these days. An artist's music is like their ad. I heard Pretty Light's ads and I'm sold -- I will see & support him any time he comes around. And since he won't be around my neck of the woods in the near future, his appearance at Bonnaroo this summer pushed me onto the "I'm Going" side of the fence.
Check him out on MySpace & Facebook.
And while you're at it, why not fan and follow The HighLife too?
Go on
and turn it up, you won't regret it. I
promise.
