Kro - Makin G's Overseas Like the Real OG's
By GeorgeAre these guys serious? I think so... I'm scurred to say anything bad about them in this post because I'm worried they might see it and come after me.
Mos Def - Tell The Truth
By GeorgeI saw Cadillac Records last night, and was pleasantly surprised to see Chuck Berry played by Mos Def. Which got me Googling Mr. Dante Terrell Smith (Mos Def's birth name) and came across this music video that I have never seen before. Nor have I heard the song. Pretty powerful accusations, reminds me of Loose Change (watch it). I like the brief snippet of Eminem at the end. Take a look, have a listen, and as always, question the answers.
Mos Def - Tell The Truth
Hearing Em's lyric at the end of that track made me crave that original track on 50's album, Get Rich or Die Tryin', so here it is. Eminem, by the way, is coming out with a new album soon.
And to end this post on a more positive note, here's some classic Mos Def with Talib Kweli (Blackstar). Reminds me of high school bone cruises. Ah, suburbia...
By the way, I recommend seeing Cadillac Records. Good stuff. Howlin' Wolf is a monster.
Hip Hop Nostalgia
By GeorgeI remember when hip hop and rap were a newly found gem in my life. I couldn't get enough of it. I was probably about 11 or 12. Listinening to Snoop's Doggy Style after bed time, learning how to talk the talk and handle the business, hoping my parents wouldn't catch on and take my cassette tape away. Hip Hop has sure come a long way since those days - for better, and for worse. But you can never take away the starry eyes of a kid bumpin' a Snoop Dogg tape. Here's some tracks I will never dislike.
Freeze. At Ease.
Herrrre we go.
Kick it, kick it, yeah that's the ticket.
I'm about to. Cuz that's what I was born to do.
It's the way that we rock when we're doin our thang.
Wyclef is the man.
