On Point: DJ Sodie
By Afolabi{image| dj sodie}
In case you hadn't noticed, it's been ladies week all week on THL. We hope you've enjoyed it, maybe even discovered something new. So to close out the week, let's kick off the weekend with a couple of old school sets from one of my favorite DJs anywhere, DJ Sodie. Here is a great Break mixset plus a solid mix of Drum and Bass from the multi-talented DJ, singer, pianist, and photographer, to get you jumping into Friday night.

TOGETHER: Silent Storm Sound System Presents: RECESS
By Afolabi
Silent Storm Sound System hits Boston with Silent Disco!
We are proud to be a part of TOGETHER - The New England Electronic Music Festival!
We are excited to present RECESS at the MILKY WAY in JP!
'Silent Disco' is a unique music/dance party experience where you hear the music only if you are wearing our special wireless headphones (provided at entry). Once you have them on, a quiet atmosphere instantly transforms into a raging dance party.
Silent Storm Sound System brings a totally different and dynamic way to experience music at a party which allows conversation while encouraging dance.

Snr Eddie Donkor - Eye Banker
By AfolabiAdam Gibbons (Uhuru Afrika) put me on to a really awesome website recently, called AwesomeTapesfromAfrica (ATfA). Literally an awesome collection of tapes made and found all over Africa, and compiled on to one website for your listening pleasure. On there I came across Snr. Eddie Donkor's Eye Banker, which the author describes as "Perfect Ghanaian highlife from a legendary guitarist-bandleader. This is the best highlife album in my life right now. Synths and brotherly advice about money, women and gossip. Exactly." You'll find the whole album and more on ATfA, but you can get started with the first two tracks from the album here. Enjoy.

Ryan Durkin - Any Given Friday
By Afolabi
Courtesy of DJ/Producer Ryan Durkin (aka Captain Durk) by way of OnAFriday.com comes a hot blend of tracks to help take your mind off the cold weather for a bit. Those that had the benefit of catching Do It Again (arguably the best Boston Sunday night dance party ever) before it closed are probably halfway through the download already... Umm, what are you waiting on?
