On Point: Jack Penate - Everything is New
Published by: Afolabi on Monday 10th August 2009 04:08pm

I've been on a bit of a British music tilt lately. Particularly, one 24 year old dude ( i think dude applies) from London. His first album blended energetic riffs with amazing melodies to create songs that touched on issues from the irreverent, to the humorous, to the romantic. He recently released a new album, titled, Everything is New. Which showcases his growth as a musician and songwriter. I was only going to put up a few tracks to give you a feel for his latest album, but i got a little carried away. So here's a little mix of some old and some new songs of his. Sort of like his album title. Ladies and gents, Jack Peñate.

What is rest?
Published by: Afolabi on Saturday 27th June 2009 03:06am
There are a lot of people talking about Michael Jackson. In
fact, i think everyone in the world is talking about him. But
up until yesterday, many of those people didn't have conciliatory
things to say about the man. But even for the ones who did,
there comes a time when we all have to remember that he was still
only a man. Imperfect. We only see the public persona,
but is that the real man? So please, let's all leave judgment
to a higher authority than ourselves. Which brings me to my
question. What is rest? Everyone keeps saying "RIP MJ",
and please get your grief out. But think about what you're
saying. Two words "REST" and "PEACE". What do they
mean? I'll let the man explain.

On Point: Double Wonderful

On my last sojourn to the city that never sleeps, i was busy doing what any consciensious visitor to "Rome" would do, not sleep. We traveled far and wide through the expanse of the burg of William, mostly keeping close to the trail of watering holes for hydration purposes. As we progressed back to hq in the early hours, we got waylaid by a celebration of backyard proportions. What happened next was a dance party. In between the melee, i escaped to the confines of the host crib for a relaxation break. It was here that i met, Mr. Gordon Kenny of the sweet-shades-wearing -yacht-rock-appreciating tribe. I fear, though, i can't divulge the origins of his sunglasses awesomeness, you'll just have to track him down yourself. Regardless, Mr. Kenny is part of a crew of like-minded-shade-wearing gents, Matty "Beans" Aidala and Brendan "Brendo" Parker, who produce sights and sounds for your sensory/dancing/laughing/enjoyment enjoyment (that's not a typo). You can catch them @ Midnight, Sundays on Long Island Cablevision Ch.20, or on their Youtube or MySpace. Giving you the bidness two times, here's the inimitable flavor of
